CUSTOM ART GLASS
Stained, Beveled, Leaded, Fused Glass and Painted Glass

Techniques and Pricing

Most of our work is assembled with lead came or copper foil. A large percentage of our work is traditional for door entries. In entries, we usually don’t use much color, if any. Stock bevel clusters are readily available in quite a variety of designs at very reasonable prices. Your beveled glass can also be custom made for more flexibility and originality. Panels can either be completed beveled or have some sections beveled combined with a textured clear glass.

The work you’ll find in the Abstract page of the gallery generally employs a mix of clear textures. I think of these pieces like a weaving, balancing the textures and the “weight” of the glass. Heavily textured glass will provide privacy and less textured glass will have a more open feel. There are over 100 textures available and I’ll help guide you to my favorites.

In my work with color, details are often worked in the kiln. I use powdered glass melted in the kiln at about 1500 degrees to make color changes that would be awkward if they were done with lead lines. Panels with color are most often used in bedrooms, kitchens and baths.
The sculpture section is really where I really get to play in the kiln. Pieces can have a functional value, like a bowl or simply be a conversation piece for a table top or display cabinet.

Pricing depends on several factors including size, complexity and cost of materials. The first step in ordering a window is to have an idea of what you want. Given the size, and the name of a project from this web site, I can estimate a budget for your work. A design deposit (10%, which applies to the job) will get me started on scaled drawings for your window. Once the details are worked out, a 40% materials deposit is needed to begin fabrication. The remaining balance is due upon delivery.
